The King Of Pop’s Midnight “Game Tape” Sessions Hold The Blueprint For Exploding Email Engagement, Profits, And Customer Loyalty

It was a wet and warm September 1987 in Tokyo, Japan.

The stadium gates at Korakuen had closed. And the 45,000 fans were long gone.

Back in his hotel suite, Michael Jackson was just getting started.

Armed with a VHS player and a notepad, he forced his crew to sit down and study the tape of the concert they had just performed.

He didn’t do it to admire his own genius.

But practically wore out the pause and rewind buttons while pointing out a lighting cue that dropped half a second too late… a backup dancer whose arm was slightly out of position… and anything that wasn’t just right.

Call this “insane perfectionism” if you like.

But to MJ, it was the only way to achieve what he called “the magic”.

He Knew The Effortless Performance The Audience Saw Was Built By Learning From Yesterday’s One.

It’s a simple blueprint we can apply to our own email writing.

Achieving our own version of “the magic” takes reviewing our own emails like Michael Jackson reviewed his performance.

Because, I don’t know about you…

Not every email I send is an instant hit.

Shocking, right? 😉

There’s still things to learn. To reflect on. And to chew over about why my email wasn’t the raging success I thought it was at the time.

This Hit Home For Me On Monday May 18, 2026 At 3:46PM …

… when I reviewed an old email of mine for the first time.

I noted down why I wrote the parts of the email the way I did.

I found places that could have been clearer.

Picked up on how being specific made the email more believable.

And finished by saying that I hadn’t done too badly with this one. (Although, I knew other emails probably wouldn’t get such high marks.)

Right then I discovered the true value of rewinding the “game tape” of my own emails.

There In My Hands I Had New Insights To Apply To My Very Next Email “Performance”

… so I could be more engaging, grow the trust with my customers a little stronger, and ultimately increase my sales.

Going through this process confirmed a crazy idea I had dreamed up, about collecting my comments on past emails into one place.

It would serve as a historical archive for me. And a source of continued inspiration.

But I could also invite other business owners in to watch over my shoulder. So they would reap the same benefits.

Which is why I’m delighted to introduce…

The concept is simple:

I review my old emails with fresh eyes. And write down my off-the-cuff comments and insights. (Or even record a video with them.)

I’m asking my past emails: “What can you teach me today?”

Inbox Champion Notes is the virtual notebook I created to keep track of this.

But its pages aren’t just for my private viewing.

Anyone who registers as an IC Notes member can also thumb through this notebook to their heart’s content.

Engaging with my notes means…

Members Tap Into The Same Inspiration And Insights I Do.

They also get to share their own comments.

And ask me questions on just about anything.

I have also gathered together a stack of “curiosities”. Including rare video presentations, and off-the-cuff videos I recorded just for IC Notes members.

I Truly Believe This Will Accelerate Learning Email Marketing Skills For Anyone Wanting To Do It “Chris Style”.

It may be just the thing you need to make great strides with growing email as the sales engine for your business.

But IC Notes is not for everyone.

It’s for:

  • The person who likes the emails I write …

  • Who wants to boost their own abilities, while getting insights and inspiration as I reflect on my past emails …

  • And knows the value of being able to peek behind the curtain to discover what the freakin’ heck I was thinking!

It’s also ONLY for people who will energise me when I interact with them.

So I refuse to have time vampires, or infants who need spoon feeding, sauntering around within the walls of IC Notes.

(Which is why I have no problem kicking anyone out for bad behaviour.)

It’s especially important to understand that…

Inbox Champion Notes Is NOT A Community Membership.

So you won’t ever hear me bragging… “Join our 173 member-strong community”.

(More like, “Join me and the 7 lost souls who are along for the crazy ride” 🤣)

While it uses a discussion system, consider it a “living archive”… not a social community.

There are certainly some things like you might find in your typical community group.

Like being able to ask questions and comment. Crack a joke. Or enjoy relaxed replies when talking to other people.

But that’s where the similarities end.

There’s no “general chat”.

There’s no constant asking how your day’s going. (Although witty comments aren’t frowned upon).

There’s not even a need to introduce yourself. (Introverts of the world rejoice!)

You can read my comments. Watch the videos. Absorb the bonus content.

But only speak up if you want to.

In fact, no one will know you’re there unless you write a comment or ask a question.

Of course, if you have a question or are bursting to comment on an email…

The opportunity is right there for the taking.

Here’s What You
Get As A Member…

  • Exclusive access to Chris’s “game tapes” where he follows the King of Pop’s example of learning from his past performances… to create “the magic” for future emails.

  • Honest comments from Chris about his emails. Real comments he’s made so far include: “this is phoning it in” and “this bit is dumb”.

  • The “back stage” perspective on the strategy and tactics that underpin Chris’s emails. So you can understand these and apply them effectively to your own emails… no guesswork required.

  • Extra insight if you are a Playbook owner, so you can see how the rules are connected to real life emails. Chris often refers to specific Playbook rules directly. (Note: The Playbook is NOT required.)

  • Access to comment on Chris’s emails and give your own insights on what you’re learning. Get replies from Chris (and perhaps even other members) to help you grow as an email writer.

  • The ability to ask Chris general questions, not related to a specific email. Get personalised answers from him. (Nellie the cat may even chime in from time-to-time 😸)

  • A focus on Chris’s style of personality-based emails. You won’t be distracted by AI writing or writing shortcuts, such as templates. This helps grow actual understanding and skills to write authentic emails that connect with your own subscribers.

  • A feel for the kind of questions to ask of your own past emails to extract maximum insight from them. This comes through observing how Chris interacts with his own emails. And the way he comments on them.

  • A direct line into Chris’s “inspiration engine” to get the same inspiration and insights Chris gets from his old emails. Which you can also apply with your own special touch to your future emails.

  • The privilege of being a fly on the wall (if you want to simply lurk). There’s zero pressure to interact. You can absorb what you need to elevate your own email marketing game, using the insights Chris extracts from his emails.

  • Unchanging membership fee. What you sign up for will be what you pay forever. (Excluding exceptional circumstances, such as excessive inflation.)

  • A focused experience. Members are here to learn, and are expected to stick to the rules. (They will be enforced). So you won’t have annoying DMs from randos. There’s no ads. No self-promotion. No “value” posts. And none of the stuff that makes Facebook groups such unpleasant places to hang out.

  • An easy-to-use, modern discussion system (Flarum). It’s easy to read posts and comment on them. You can turn notifications on for discussions you want to follow. Chris is self-hosting so has configured it to only have what is needed for IC Notes. Nothing more.

  • A 14-day, no risk free trial. New members will not be charged a cent until the trial period ends. When you apply, Chris will personally review your application. And if you prove to be a good fit, you’ll be allowed to continue beyond the trial period.

In a moment I’ll tell you the price for becoming an IC Notes member.

But first…

Are you the patient type?

Because IC Notes is not a free-for-all when it comes to signing up.

I have designed it to be a pleasant and manageable experience for me first and foremost.

So…

Registrations Are Limited To ONE DAY ONLY Each Month

There’s no way around this.

Beg. Plead. Offer me bags of cash.

No one is getting in until the first day of the month.

I will keep my email list in the loop about when the registration day is coming up.

The order form will be open for 24 hours only.

So if you’re reading this page, and it’s not the first day of the month…

Best to put a reminder in your calendar to come back here on the first day of next month (Eastern Time) to ensure you don’t miss out.

To summarise so far…

Inbox Champion Notes Gives You Direct Access To Me and My Email Mind

(Some might say “beautiful email mind” 😉)

You get to look over my shoulder as I comment on my own past emails.

You can write your own comments on them.

And ask questions about anything email or business-related… which I guarantee a reply to.

IC Notes is best suited to people who…

  • Are on my wavelength when it comes to the kind of emails they want to write to engage their subscribers…

  • Aren’t going to throw a tizzy about there only being one day per month they can register…

  • And can handle reading comments for a metric crapton of my past emails… because they know it will be an immense help for improving their own email marketing abilities.

So, bet you’ve been wondering…

How Much Does
Inbox Champion Notes Cost?

I’ll tell you straight up…

The price is not so low that it attracts a horde of half-committed dopamine junkies that I have to babysit.

I’m also NOT setting the price at the $200/month or more this could be for this level of deep insight and direct access to my email brain.

Reason being…

I want this to be as accessible as possible for my most dedicated members.

Which is why the membership dues are just…

$55/month

This amount is locked in when you join. So you will never pay more. (Excluding things outside my control, such as ridiculous inflation.)

But there’s absolutely NOTHING TO PAY to get started.

When you sign up for the free 14-day trial on the 1st day of the month…

Your first payment isn’t due until the 15th of the month.

Here’s How To Start Your 14-Day Free Trial…

  2. Enter your details

  3. Click the “Complete Order” button. (You will not be charged anything at this time.)

You can cancel your membership any time during the trial period.

When you’re ready to start your IC Notes free trial, click the button below.

Or continue on to watch the walk-through video. Or read the Q&A.

Two Risk-Free Ways To Know This Is Right For You

IC Notes is unlike most memberships. And I am unlike most people who have a membership…

What with being a unique soul who has conversations with his cat and where Chris switches to talking about himself in the third person without warning. 😜

It’s quite likely you’ve only read my emails. And have seen little to nothing of me in a more casual, off-the-cuff setting. (Or been entranced by my angelic voice 🤣).

So imagining what it’s like to interact with me could be hard (if not impossible).

Which is why I offer you two risk-free ways to check out whether IC Notes is right for you.

One I have already told you about…

The 14-Day Free Trial

You can literally waltz on in the door and do anything a paid member can for 14 days.

If you decide it’s not for you, you can leave before the trial ends and you won’t be charged a cent.

The second thing I offer you right now is…

A Guided Tour Of IC Notes

I take you inside the walls of IC Notes as I present a (very unscripted) video tour.

You will see with your own eyes the incredible opportunity IC Notes offers for levelling-up your email marketing skills.

We’ll look at one of my email breakdowns. And I’ll show you how to add your own comments.

You’ll see just how quick and simple it is to navigate around. And I’ll point out key features, such as the bonus video and audio content.

Grab your popcorn, and settle in to watch the full 9-minute walk-through here:

Is there anything I can’t access during the free trial?

No. You have exactly the same access as paying members.

Do I need the Playbook first?

No.

Can I leave then re-join?

Maybe. But there are conditions:

  • I must be satisfied this is a good decision for both of us
  • You are NOT allowed to take the free trial again
  • There is a $100 re-joining fee

What are the membership rules?

The rules are simple:

  • Be a decent human being and respect others. (2 strikes and you’re out.)
  • Keep comments and posts on topic
  • No self-promotion (including links to any of your own stuff or affiliate links)

Break them and you’ll be shown the door.

(I reserve the right to change these rules at any time. And enforce them as I see fit.)

Is there a limit on the number of members?

I’ve not yet set a limit. But I will if questions or comments become too many for me.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes.

You can still access IC Notes for the rest of the month you have paid in advance for. And keep the content you have downloaded for your own personal use.

Is there a bonus or free gift for joining?

You know what… there kinda is. There’s a pile of them in fact.

(But so far I’ve been too lazy to add them one by one to this sales page 😏)

It’s the videos you’ll find under the Curiosities and Events tags in IC Notes.

Some of them can only be found by purchasing my rarely-for-sale Email Ace Definitive Edition for $247.

But you get them for FREE when you’re an IC Notes member.

So… enjoy your bonus gifts 😉

Can I pay with PayPal?

No.

Can I really just lurk?

Yes. Really. No one will know you are a member except me.
