A tip to help avoid the spam folder

“Life’s too short to waste a moment worrying about email deliverability.”

I remember a simpler time.

When you could click “Send”. And and email would land squarely in the inbox of the person you sent it to.

But when spam got to epidemic proportions… and inboxes were busting their seams under the strain…

SOMETHING had to be done!

That “something” being: spam filtering.

You know… popping suspect messages into a “spam” folder to check later… or never.

Sure, this helps reduce unwanted messages in our inboxes.

But it creates headaches when you’re wanting to email subscribers.

And we’re talking people who really did sign up because they wanted the email.

So… even before sending THIS email…

I’m wondering:

“Am I within the ‘Laws of the Spamiverse’ that Google and its friends have decided for this week?”

It’s something worth pondering when you have a 1000… 10,000… 100,000… or more-strong list.

When ending up in spam can mean massive amounts of lost sales. Not to mention the costs for sending.

Fortunately…

There’s some some great tools to help you claw back some piece of mind.

And breathe a big “PHEW!”

One I’ve used for a while now is Mail Tester.

Added bonus: it’s free!

It gives you a temporary email address. Then you send a test email there before mailing your entire list.

You’ll notice its evil stare if you’re starting to paint outside the lines.

Well…

It’ll give you a handy score out of 10.

So you’ll know if you have some work to do. Or not.

I always appreciate Mail Tester’s pat-on-the-back:

“Good stuff, Chris… your email is almost perfect!” 😎

Happy emailing!

P.S. You can attribute that opening quote to me 😉
