Like most of the human race…
Or at least avid Mythbusters fans…
I love me some duct tape.
But lately another beauty has been stealing my heart.
You see…
I’ve fallen in love with PVC tape!
Now, duct tape is wonderful and all… in that it’s easy to work with and can make strong repairs.
But for something even stronger… with better adhesion… and that clings well in wet areas…
Well… it can only be: PVC tape 😍
My top uses for it over the last year include:
sealing up the “temporary” board over our bathroom window during winter
fixing the rear-view mirror in my car that decided to fall off when my super-glue repair job failed
taping down the vinyl in our kicthen that had become a tripping hazard
taping aroung the edge of an old laminated trestle table where the top and the side were coming apart.
keeping my ring light together after it had an unfortunate fall… and I broke the clips that held the two sides together
And I’m sure this year will hold plenty more opportunities for me to grab one of my 3 conveniently-located rolls.
No, I’m not about to give you a link to Amazon to buy PVC tape.
Although you really should have some in your home!
Instead this is a clarion call for having some DIY versatility in your freelancing business…
And being ready to make do with the less-than-ideal option should the need arise.
Sure… I’d rather have an actual bathroom window than some hardboard and PVC tape.
And I’d like to have the high quality lights all the cool YouTube kids have…
Not these cheap-and-nasty ring lights that fall apart when you look at them.
But:
Sometimes we just have to make do.
And be OK with something that might not be ideal… but can still carry you a long way in your freelancing business.
Especialy when getting started.
Because maybe there’s not the budget for buying all the gizmos.
Or for joining the mastermind group you really want to.
So being part of the PVC-tape crew might have to be where it’s at for now.
And sometimes “good enough” is good enough.
So… buy your PVC-tape—
