Client booking time-saver

Maybe my head’s in the proverbial sand. But I’ve not heard of any freelancer doing this particular thing.

Not until I read an email from Upwork legend, Steven Alexander Young, about working with clients.

Hmmm… 🤔

“Can’t hurt to try,” I thought.

So:

The idea being:

Prospective clients will know — provided they read it of course!! — just what they’re booking.

In this case it’s a “Pre-Project Call” (or “Discovery Call”).

It’s an opportunity for them to share more of what they’re thinking about and needing. And for me to listen and start thinking about a solution that can help meet their needs.

The page also adds a bit of “friction” to the process.

The idea being… they’ll be thinking a little more about what they’re booking in for — and expectations will (ideally) be clearer by the time we hop on the call.

The new thing for me was this approach of sending them to this web page first.

Rather than sending them straight to a calendar to pick a date.

And today I’m left wondering:

Where has this awesome client process-enhancing tip been all my life? 🥰

Pretty much the day I set this page up and had the button going through to make the actual booking… I was able to pass the link to a prospective client.

Then my prospect clicked the link.

And:

Decided they liked what’s on offer… booked a time… and the Zoom and calendar links were automatically set up and emailed to everyone.

You’ve got to be pulling my leg!

So…

I don’t need to do the usual to and fro dance with my client?

I don’t need to muck around creating a Zoom meeting?

I don’t need to manually put all this in my calendar?

It can’t really be THAT easy… can it?

Well, my client and I saw it with our own two eyes…

And there’s no mistaking:

It really IS that easy!

So I’m definitely sticking with this process.

And you know:

A pre-booking page like this could be used for just about any type of meeting booking I need — anywhere I need to lay down the law before clients or prospects book a time.

I guess…

This is one example of taking small steps that can help your business processes flow just a little quicker and smoother

One of the key things enabling the client booking process to work so effortlessly for me is the calendar booking system.

I use SavvyCal for this. I find it makes the process painless.

If you’re wanting to set up a client booking system like I’m using…

The basic plan is $12/month. And the free one might be an option for you too!

I now subscribe to the $20/month Premium plan. It gives me the ability to receive payments before bookings are made — great for things like booking coaching calls.

I’m going to enjoy setting up the web pages I’ll need for other types of calls — knowing how much time they’ll be saving me in the future!

Enjoy the weekend 😊

P.S. If you’re interested… the “Pre-Project Call” page I set up is here: https://milham.me/15min

Go ahead… click the link if you like.

Nothing flash there. But it might help you understand the process better or offer some food for thought.

P.P.S. Although it’s geared toward my prospective email marketing clients…

If you DO go ahead and cheekily book a call via my “15min” link above… I may just have to hold you to that!

I’ll expect you to at least pop into the Zoom call and say “Hi”. AND share a bit about what’s going on for you in your freelancing business.

Who knows? … I may be able to offer some advice.
