When I’m tidying and lift up a sofa cushion, I always get a buzz when I find a sparkling prize staring back at me.
I raise the sacred coin aloft.
And with pride in my heart and the hopes and dreams of my fellow citizens at stake…
I bask in the glory of my Everest-Top moment ⛰️
Well.
Maybe not.
But…
A coin is a coin.
And it’s going in my wallet… dammit!
I’ve also found a treasure-under-the-cushion buzz with client work.
Case in point…
I was doing an email marketing audit for a client. Busy exploring their Klaviyo account. Looking for ways to make improvements.
As I trudged my way through… what did I see hiding in a corner… trying to play all coy? …
A giant digital cushion!
Well, what’s an email auditor to do but…
YANK THE CUSHION ASIDE!
W-what’s that… something glinting back?
YES!
You see…
I found my client was paying for 7,500 active Klaviyo profiles MORE than they needed.
Well, that’s no good!
Better the money be in the back pocket of my client, than dishing it out to Klaviyo for providing zero extra value.
So… with some swift button clicks I lowered the maximum active profiles much closer to what they needed.
And…
I saved them $100 per month.
Not bad for a quick nosey under this “cushion”.
Now, some businesses won’t blink an eye at $100.
Others?
It can come as a welcome relief if they’re just starting out or things are a bit tight.
As freelancers the thing is…
Auditing can be a helpful tool on our tool belt to offer clients.
Maybe as a one-off service. Maybe rolled into an ongoing service agreement.
Whatever way…
Audits may not always produce a lot of up-front financial savings. But there are still wins to be made.
Because they help raise confidence and trust in you in the eyes of your client. That you’re on their side and looking out for their best interests.
Are there some cushions you could help your clients have a poke around under?
