I haven’t bugged ChatGPT much lately.
But a quick jab in the ribs has him jumping to attention.
Today’s prompt:
“What is the number one way ChatGPT can ruin a copywriter’s career?”
(I won’t share everthing he writes — too boring.)
But he starts off sounding a little miffed.
I wonder why? 🤔
My prompt isn’t that pointed..
He replies:
“It’s important to clarify that ChatGPT, or any other tool, doesn’t have the capability to ruin someone’s career on its own.”
Yeah… fair point.
It takes people to make the decision that they prefer AI results over those from real humans.
Then he drones on about the usual “considerations” such as “Plagiarism Concerns”, “Inaccuracy and Misrepresentation”, “Lack of Creativity” and “Ethical Concerns”.
ChatGPT finishes up and says:
“Ultimately, the key is to use AI tools responsibly and as aids rather than replacements.”
OK. I guess the “aid” thing has been big for copywriters using AI this year. For things like research and idea generation.
Heck… I’ve found it helpful a few times for that. (And code generation was particularliy handy.)
But the little sod couldn’t help but wedge this bit in:
“Copywriters should leverage AI to enhance their productivity and creativity, but they should also bring their own expertise, creativity, and ethical considerations to the table.”
Self-promotion, much?
“Copywriters should leverage AI”.
Who’s writing your paycheck, Mr GPT?
But I particularly *love* the “shoulds”…
This introduces a moral sense of obligation.
So copywriters are obligated to “leverage AI to enhance their productivity and creativity”.
Hmmm.
What does it mean if copywriters choose NOT to use AI at all?
Is it reasonable to say they’ve had some kind of moral failure?
Also — according to ChatGPT — copywriters are obligated to “bring their own expertise, creativity, and ethical considerations to the table.”
Sure… these are very good things for a copywriter. Or any freelancer for that matter.
But there’s no “10 Commandments of Copywriting” that says copywriters MUST behave in any sort of way.
In fact there’s been plenty of nefarious copywriters… who used their powers for evil.
But this doesn’t stop them being great copywriters.
Anyway… I’m getting all worked up at a piece of AI software.
(What have I done with my life?)
Maybe I should not take too much stock of what ChatGPT says.
And just keep him (“It”, Chris. “It!”) in its place as an “aid”.
I mean it’s “aided” me… sorta… with writing this email.
And will aid me now to wrap things up as I ask it:
“What is the number one reason to use systeme.io?” (Which I promote as an affiliate)
And straight from the horses— err… bot’s mouth:
“Systeme.io provides a comprehensive set of tools in one platform, allowing users to create websites, build sales funnels, manage email marketing campaigns, and sell products or services without the need for multiple separate tools. This can streamline processes, save time, and reduce the complexity of managing various aspects of an online business.”
I’m sure my copy chief, ChatGPT, would want me to add:
You SHOULD leverage systeme.io to quickly build your dream freelancer website.
