So I listened my way through the “Rock Classics” playlist on Spotify.
Took multiple sessions to get through all 200. But did it!
Was great fun having it blasting away while doing my “low creativity” work in the afternoon.
So I could enjoy it — even with catchy lyrics — and still get work done.
Some songs I’ve never actually heard before… although may have heard of them.
I’m not usually fond of listening to Hendrix. But there’s something about All Along the Watchtower that is beckoning me back.
Most of the songs were great.
Some were crap 💩
Let’s just say: I’m NOT an Iggy Pop fan.
Crappiness is in the ears of the beholder, I guess?
Some people gel with certain songs.
Everyone’s got their preferences.
For me, there’s often memories linked to songs… so they carry special meaning. And I enjoy listening to them because of this.
Even though it might mean I wander further from the genres you’d usually find me loitering in.
Yeah… been known to listen to French Pop. But I have a good reason for that… really!
Sometimes we can’t explain why we like things. We just do.
Like how our prospective clients have their preferences. And sometimes that preference is just not you.
Sorry! … fact of life time.
But no need to be all needy about it. They just need someone else.
And even they might not know why.
It just is.
Other times they WILL want to work with you. But really they’re not a good match for you.
So you’re the one with your preferences screaming at you:
NOOOOO!
If money is tight… then you might have to make a decision to go against you better judgement…
And work with someone who might not be the right fit.
Use that as a learning time. And a time for figuring out how to get on with people you might not normally work with.
With the goal of looking for better matches… and ultimately moving yourself off Hustle Street and onto Referral Road…
Where you’ve got ideal clients. And they refer new work to you.
Aim high!!
Slog hard for now if you need to.
And always… rock on!! 🤘
P.S. If you missed this link I sent the other day…
And you want to see how I “proofspeak” while editing to help make my writing clearer…
