Today, I attended an Upwork masterclass led by a fellow member of a copywriting group I belong to.
It was so interesting hearing about her journey from software engineering into copywriting.
Now she was leading her mastermind call today. And is opening up her coaching course for next year.
It was delightful to be there cheering her on.
And seeing others excited about what she is offering.
I want to share a couple of things I picked up on…
First, on the Upwork front…
If you’re thinking of diving into that platform… and even if you aren’t… I appreciated the reminder about how important it is to carefully position ourselves.
It’s about being clear about what we offer clients. So they can see we’re the “goto person” to help solve their pressing need.
Plus: having a smaller list of skills on your profile helps the algorithm suggest jobs that are best suited to you.
So after the call… I may have had a tiny tweak here and there on my profile 😁
Not that I’ve been particulary active on Upwork recently… but just in case.
The other thing… something that surprised me…
I discovered… although she’d worked with a few more clients than me on Upwork… her rating and dollars earned were in a similar place to mine.
Apart from now realising I’m not the Upwork newbie I kinda think of myself as…
It was an an encouraging reminder that there’s things to learn from others… even if they’re in a similar place… even if it’s just a nudge ahead.
That’s the kind of mindset I started my email list with.
