Friday just past was the last Friday in April.
Which means it was… Arbor Day! 🌲 🌳 🌴
It was launched in Nebraska, in 1872. And was about valuing trees that gave food, shade, and renewable resources.
Fun fact… on the first Arbor Day over one-million trees were planted!
J.S. Morton, the “father of Arbor Day”, said…
“Other holidays repose upon the past; Arbor Day proposes for the future.”
So Arbor Day isn’t about remembering the past. It’s about looking ahead to the future.
It’s like the things we “plant” in our freelance businesses…
They’re not just about what’s going on today. But are part of realistic dreams for the future. Where the seeds planted today. Will have sprouted, grown, and flourished into something amazing.
We may have goals of greater income security for our families. Being able to live wherever we want. Having more time to volunteer and help others in need.
Those things can become a reality for us by starting today. And doing the work. With a little watering and tending every day.
Nothing rocket-science-level complicated about it.
But sometimes it can be a little daunting finding where to start. Or our next steps may be a little hazy.
So, if you’re looking for some guidance about what to plant or how to tend your own freelancing garden…
(Geeze, Chris! Enough with the gardening metaphors already!!!)
Ahem… if you need a guiding hand with your freelancing business. I’ve been doing this a while. And can help through coaching. Just reply and let me know what you need.
Enjoy the weekend!
