After yesterday’s email about writing using AI transcription. And taking 30 minutes to do it…
I looked at the result and said to myself “that took 30 minutes?”
It just looks too short an email to take that long.
But I do know why it took that time. Because I had the transcription step and copying things around to do.
And making the blob of transcribed text into something human readable.
Then making that flow somewhat better. And with the right spellings for words.
Finally giving it another once over.
Yes, I know there were errors. A missing word or two.
And then I thought:
I wonder about just sitting down and just blatting out an email like yesterday’s. A bit of a “meta” one… but just typing the jolly thing.
I mean I type them in normally all the time. But I’m not usually talking about them as I go. Or watching the clock.
And I’ve realised that although I could get the ideas out of my head quickly using AI transcription. And it allowed me to get the structure sorted out. It still needed a lot of tidying up afterwards to make it into something resembling the sort of email I’d normally send.
So I’m not sure that process is always going to be the best. I think it’s great for when I have something longer to speak about. And perhaps something that isn’t as time sensitive as my daily email.
So I might not replace just typing my emails out any time soon.
But you know what’s cool. This time I’ve sat down an blatted this email out… in just about one sitting and done it up to this point in less than 10 minutes! And with minimal editing along the way.
That’s not to brag or anything. It’s just showing that after almost 4 months of daily email, my writing confidence has massively improved.
And that’s pretty exciting for me. Because it’s one of the things I was looking for when I started this whole daily email thing.
I’m working on documenting and sharing my method for writing daily email. And why it’s fantastic — well, it is in my opinion — for cultivating a write-every-day habit…
I’ve already had feedback from others that they’d find it helpful.
So have started putting some initial content together.
If you’d find this ebook useful… let me know by clicking here
I hope to make some progress over the next month or so.
All right… the timer is about to go off. And that will be about 13 minutes, without editing.
So, I’m happy with that.
Next email probabably won’t be so “meta”.
Take care.
P.S. This was about 17 minutes to write and edit… after I fossicked around for the link to include. 😀
