More “tip nuggets”…

A couple of days ago I mentioned a time when I was going to call my freelancer-focused business “Practical Freelancer”.

I had a good response to that email. So thought you might like to see some more of the “tip nuggets” that were left lying around from my “never to see the light of day” book.

Remember, these are pretty rough and ready. I’ve added a small amount of meat to make them a little more understandable.

But they’re more or less the ideas I originally put down.

Here they are:

  • Put down good foundations. Good health. Good mindset. Good relationships. Especially those close, like family. Base your business on being you. Yes aspire. But beware of wearing a mask and costume that will make you sweat profusely and overheat after a while. Burnout is a very real thing. I burnt out badly because I was trying to be superman. Hint: humans are from earth, not Krypton.

  • Love learning and change. Change can be stressful. But also delightful. Learning is a form of change. Changing your mind about things. Adding to your repository of knowledge and understanding so you can better cope with change. And empowering you to make the changes you need to. To advance your business. And yourself personally. Welcome change with open arms. To change is human; to enjoy it, divine.

  • Play business like a game Makes it more fun, and keeps the stress down. This means playing like it’s a perpetual game. The objective is to stay in the game. And make it easier to play with every round. Another way of putting it is: the objective is not to win… but to not lose! It also means other players are not competitors. But potential partners.

  • Tell “buts” to butt out! Where will excuses get you? You have to own your life and not let it be owned by circumstances. Hard, perhaps, in the modern world where everything seems to be someone else’s fault. But taking responsibility for your mistakes and failures also means you take responsibility for your successes!

I’ve still got one last stash of random tips from the same source.

You know what? …

It’ll feel good to show them the light of day. Otherwise they might lurk forever in the murky darkness of my ever-growing ideas stash.

Is there anything from today’s list that particularly resonated with you?

Reply and let me know.

Take care,
