Niching and your website

I saw this great question in a Facebook group that I belong to.

It’s on a topic that’s near and dear to me… niching.

“Should I niche?” is of course the million-dollar question for many freelancers.

On this occasion, the person has two niches they are focusing on.

And they had a question about whether they could mash their two niches into one website?

Here’s some thoughts I shared with them…

I suggest that you keep your website focused on one niche at a time.

The reason being… it helps things to be so much clearer for your website visitors. They can see what you’re about. And you can easily direct them to what you think they may need.

Plus, it makes it a whole heap easier for you to manage your website. When you’re not having to think about two niches and how they’re presented. And easier than having to think if you’re giving the right amount of balance to each of them.

If it was me, I’d either try and focus on one niche for my website. This doesn’t mean you couldn’t work in the other niche. It’s just about making your website clearer.

Or you could create a second website that is focused on your other niche.

Then it’s easier for you to make the content on your website clearer if you’re working with just one website at a time.

Of course, managing two websites is more work. And potentially more expense for you.

It may be that you start with one niche. And then after a while create your second niche website. And so benefit from the skills learned from creating your first website.

The key thing to take away from this is…

You’re helping your website visitors have a great experience… if you can make your website as clear as possible.

And having one niche per website can certainly help!

If you need help with niching or gaining clarity in your business… coaching might be a useful option for you. Reply if you think that might help.

Have a great week!
