Putting energy into this is a MUST

When I began freelancing, I could count all the freelancers I knew on the fingers of my left elbow.

I knew even less people doing this crazy copywriting thing I was getting into.

It was just me, myself, and I…

Sitting around the boardroom table asking…

“Why, oh why, did we think that going into business for ourselves was a good idea?”

Seems it’s not just me who’s ever had these thoughts…

Just yesterday I was chatting with someone on LinkedIn who was feeling a bit lost because they’re just starting out.

The feeling of overwhelm was pressing down. And they were constantly sniffing along the trail of shiny objects.

I know how it goes. Been there. Done that. Got 382 T-shirts.

But it gets easier, my friend

After a while it doesn’t feel so much like you’re wading through treacle.

And know what helped me?

Connecting with people.

Connecting with other freelancers. Other just-as-confused-as-I-was souls. And those who were a bit further ahead… so had some stuff figured out.

That’s where places like LinkedIn can help. And groups for courses you do.

Sometimes connections in those places develop into friendships. Or at least supportive business relationships (whatever you call those?).

Sometimes they go nowhere. And that’s OK.

It was through a course group that I met what is now my core group of friends…

We did freelancing and business stuff. And supported each other with that.

But now… we’re friends first

In this group… and through other connections I’ve made on LinkedIn…

I’ve now got friends who are published authors. And who edit books.

I’ve now got friends who are experienced marketers and copywriters. And can offer guidance.

This has been SO helpful these past few days…

While writing and launching my first ebook.

My point is…

Putting energy into making connections with other freelancers is so close to being a “must”…

I’m just going to say it… “It’s a MUST!”

We’re here to help each other.

And it’s one reason I’m busy sending these emails. To offer encouragement. And maybe some smiles along the way.

I know I’m not the place to come for group and community-type connection (yet?).

And there are communities out there where you can get group coaching and support.

But if you prefer one-to-one…

And are wanting guidance from someone who’s a little further ahead on the path… then I offer coaching.

It might just be one session. Or maybe we set up a regular schedule.

At this stage, it’s on an as-needed basis. But only if you’ve been on my email list for one month or more. (Them’s the rules).

Simply reply and ask if you want to know more about coaching.

Freelancing folks facilitate fun, freedom, & friendships — forever,

P.S. Have I mentioned… I’ve just written an ebook?

Yeah, yeah… I’m a bit excited about that. 😸

So I may be talking about it this week a bit. (Or a lot!)

It’s all about a simple method I use to help create lots of content.
