Puzzle me this

I’m edging closer the end of my holiday time. Just been having some hang-out time with the family today.

Tonight Vicki and I had a nice and relaxed evening… working on one of those Wazgij puzzles.

Those are the ones where you have to imagine the final scene that’s shown.

Might sound hard. But not too bad as it can be fairly easy to spot patterns.

And nowhere near as bad as those INSANE black and white ones… that I can only imagine were created to torture your worst enemies!

My parents love the Wasgijs. They’ve usually got one or two on the go.

Then somehow they end up at our place. They’re EVERYWHERE. I’m sure they’re breeding now. 🐇

Anyhoo…

The whole puzzle thing was fun…

And I couldn’t help but thinking about how it’s used as a metaphor… one that’s been used a million ways like this before.

Although I could run with it… I won’t inflict it upon you.

Because — of course — it doesn’t actually fit my preferred metaphor for freelancing business owners.

I prefer the metaphor of a laboratory.

If you’ve been around here long enough you’ll have heard this mad scientist rave on about some of his concoctions.

And seeing we’re at the start of the year… and it’s kinda tradition to talk about new things and changes and whatnot…

Let me ask you… is it time for some experimenting?

Time to try something new perhaps?

  • A new client?

  • A new niche?

  • A new piece of software to help with project managment.

The possibilities are endless. Could be big or small.

But any changes have to be in alignment with your goals.

(You do have goals, right?)

Otherwise, they’re just fanciful ideas… and can just add to the busywork… without actually gaining anything.

Maybe your experiment is even:

Keeping things just as they are for now… and continuing to monitor progress.

That’s a legitimate experiment, in my book. As long as you’re actively planning for it. And not just accidentally going with that as the default.

What are the actions that are going to take you closer to your goals? Today? Tomorrow? And in the coming weeks?

And a quick reminder before I skedaddle…

You’re welcome to send any questions my way. And I’ll answer them in these emails.

We’ve got some questions in the pipeline… but am always happy to help out and answer yours.

Anonymously too. Unless of course you want your 2-minutes of fame 😄

Plus: I just LOOOVE giving my opinion on all things freelancing… in case you haven’t noticed 😜

“umop apisdn” is “upside down” upside down,
