I came home to my youngest belting out… “The sun’ll come out tomorrow…” 🎶
Yep…
It’s that time of the year when the local theatre company starts auditions for their next production.
This time it’s Annie.
And all the ladies in my household are auditioning for the ensemble, including my wife.
Last year my wife, Vicki, played the Magic Mirror in Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. And also a major (clothes-on!) part in Calendar Girls.
My youngest daughters tend to go for dancing parts. Although Sarah, my 18-year-old had a narrator part in Snow White, as Fairy Flora.
Theatre became a big part of our family’s life when we moved to our country town. It started with dance parts. Then my oldest took a lead role a few years back.
The song that was echoing around the hallowed halls of La casa de Milham today… err… I mean Tomorrow… the song name, that is…
It kind of earworms in. And as soon as I heard it I started whistling along too.
It takes me all the way back to 5-year-old me going to see Annie at the movies with my class.
I reckon it’s one of those songs that you just can’t help feeling lifted up by.
And I don’t know about you… but as a freelance writer, sometimes those ups and downs are either waaay up or they’re waaay down.
Might just be my personality?
Like I was up, because I’d produced things like an ebook, sales page, and other firsts… which will only help my business.
But down, because I’d not had a new client for a while.
Truth be told… I’ve slowed down on the client-getting side of things.
I’m not needing to hustle as much, because I have ongoing monthly subscription-type arrangements for my services.
But one thing I am taking particular notice of…
When people sign up to my list and reply to my welcome email… most tell me their biggest issues are related to the client-getting thing.
Should I niche? Where do I find clients? I’m not sure I’d do a good enough job. That kind of thing.
I’ve talked a bit about niching in the past. And offered some tips on working with clients. And shared some of my experiences.
And I’ll keep doing that.
But today I’d like to test the water…
If I put together a workshop, that brought together some of these basics of working with clients, would that interest you?
I’m not going to offer something like this if the feeling is… meh.
So if you would find this helpful for getting ahead with your freelance writing business…
And, you’d be happy to pay a “choose your price” amount for it…
