Not surprising… but my shoes are in poor shape.
I’ve been doing plenty of walking lately.
Taking work to the local park 20mins away. Traipsing around town when people are barely rolling out of bed in the morning. And sometimes walking for miles along roads in the countryside.
But now that my soles are wearing thing…
My shoes taunt me every time I put them on!
Yes…
They taunt me mercilessly with their beady little eyes. And snigger at me… because they know what’s coming.
Smart buggers.
The deal is: I have wide feet. And…
Buying shoes to fit is a right pain in the posterior.
Because of this… there’s limited choices for where to buy.
And you can just forget ever finding an “on-sale” bargain.
Now there’s some great online stores that cater for people like me. With practical and great-looking options.
But I prefer in-person service.
Call me behind the times…
But I kinda like slipping my feet inside the shoes I’m looking to buy. Making sure they’re snug — but withough cramp-inducing pressure on the sides. And going for a stroll around the store… just to make sure they feel right.
I’d rather get it right first time. (And I hate having to waste time returning things).
People with feet like mine are special cases when it comes to buying shoes.
Much like our ideal clients.
I mean…
When selling your services… your ideal client is less likely to be from the hoarde that has “normal” shaped feet.
And as counter-intuitive as it can seem to start with…
It’s going to be a whole lot more profitable to hang out a “shoes for people with wide feet” sign. Than one that just reads “shoes”.
When you cater for something special…
And are a little less needier than wanting the whole world to look your way… it means:
You can help clients better match themselves to you.
In other words: you’ve niched down.
And clients in your niche value your specific understanding of them. Their needs. And their customers needs.
Plus:
Money has a tendency to flow more freely in the direction of specialization.
If you’re not already… consider your ideal client. And marry your services to their needs.
I can almost guarantee it’s going to take a load off your mind doing this…
As you stop wondering who or where your clients are…
And you focus energy onto delivering the best outcomes for those who see you as the perfect choice for them.
If you’re looking for help zeroing on on your ideal client…
And gaining clarity for your freelancing business…
I can help.
