*GULP*
*Aaah*
Just swigging back some coffee.
Yeah… back on the caffeine.
Haven’t got the jitters quite yet… so might be OK for now.
I’m drinking from my favorite mug. My daughter gave it to me last year for my birthday.
It says:
“World’s Greatest Father”.
Awww. That’s my girl.
Well… that’s what it says when you blink and read what you expect to read.
Because it actually says “father” — with an “r” after the “a”. And without the “h”.
(Hope that’s somewhat clear)
💨
Now I’m not going to S-P-E-L-L it out for you here because I couldn’t get a definitive answer on whether spam filters will have a field day or not.
So let’s not risk it.
(You’ll “get” my subject line now?)
The thing is…
She didn’t give it to me because I have exceptional gastro-flatulo prowess.
The reason?
It’s a bit of a family “in” joke.
Sarah has dyslexia. And words aren’t always easy to work with.
She can laugh about it. And that’s cool.
And for those not in the know…
The words on the cup trail off with “…I mean father”.
So…
I love my cup. It reminds me of her.
Every time I take a sip of this tar broth…
It makes me smile… and laugh.
Which is great for times when I’ve sent an email. Like yesterday…
And my brain starts its head-trash routine:
“What will people think?”
And:
“What’s the point asking people to reply to my emails? No one did last time.”
But… my inner critic hurriedly skulks off when lovely surprises like this arrive in my inbox:
“Love this email, Chris! It’s well-written. And I very much relate. I’m a recovering online-course-a-holic…”
😊
Makes my day.
There’s power in a few kind words.
And this is the kind of encouragement — when shared liberally — can make this freelancing thing just that bit more pleasant for each of us.
Speaking of making things a bit more pleasant…
I shared this the other day. But will mention it a bit more over the next few days.
If getting into a regular writing routine would help you as a freelancer — writer or not …
I’m thinking of putting together a short, low-priced ebook… a “howto” guide on writing daily email to level-up your writing.
In it you’ll find things like:
Why write daily email? And the benefits for your freelancing business
Why having an audience is a MUST (it can’t just be a convenient family member!)
How to ignore just about every bit of copywriting advice you’ve ever learned for emails. And why this will make your daily emails SO MUCH BETTER.
How forgetting about images and design in emails can work to your advantage. And your audience’s.
My toolkit for writing and emailing daily. Including why I use BerserkerMail. And I’ll also point out some free options that won’t leave you pulling your hair out (too much, anyway!)
How to leverage daily email writing practice as a core part of your business.
If you’d find an ebook like this useful… let me know by clicking here
That’s it for today.
Back to the coffee. MUST get me some decent plunger stuff for the next one… ugh 😝
Thanks for your feedback and encouragement!
