“What if they don’t like it?”

The self-doubt demons seem to like throwing these questions into freelancer brains:

What if they don’t like…

… my writing?

… the website I designed?

… the way I presented the report?

And you can be certain there’s a million other possiblities.

Often paired with the insidious:

What if they find out I’m not actually any good at this stuff?

“Imposter syndrome” at its finest.

Been there.

Still have twinges of it.

With occasional days of abject doubt.

Fortunately…

As you find out clients are generally decent human beings…

And as you just get on with doing the damn work…

It’s funny how these “What if they don’t like…?” questions gradually lose their power.

Being self-aware enough to say “NO!”… when your brain’s begging you to wallow off into future “what if” scenarios… certainly helps.
