So I’m lying down for a bit of a breather. And thanking the rev.com app for being so awesome that I can speak my draft email today.
It’s 8:30PM and I’m still plugging away at finishing the jolly Black Friday emails for this weekend.
There’s been a heap of them. And I’ve thrown in a few extra ones. Just for reminders and things that I wasn’t initially expecting to send.
Plus I managed to avert a disaster for my client yesterday when people couldn’t purchase using mobile phones. A geeky suggestion relating to Shopify meant it all came right.
Nice to be hero of the hour sometimes 😎
But hey… it’s all in a day’s work as a freelancer.
One thing I wanted to share with you is that this work I’m doing for Black Friday is all over and above the regular work I do for my client.
I work for them on a subscription service basis (kind of like a retainer). And that’s pretty cool because I know how much money I’m getting each month and what the scope of work is.
But when special events or seasons roll around… there’s an opportunity to propose additional work.
And so I suggested a massive upscaling from last year’s Black Friday efforts.
I won’t tell you how many emails were sent then. But let’s just say: it wasn’t too many. (This was well before I came on board.)
And this time we’ve quadrupled the number of emails sent.
Madness?
Well… doing this is already showing great results.
It’s not quite the end of Black Friday and we’ve already hit the same value of orders that were reached last year over the entire weekend… from Black Friday through to Cyber Monday.
So we’ve got a nudge over 3 days left to go and we’re well ahead.
Making me feel good. 😄
And there’s plenty more opportunities flying into inboxes soon… so people can still pull the trigger on getting a fantastic Black Friday deal.
The point of this email isn’t to be a big brag session about how great my emails are…
(But I won’t complain if anyone gives me a pat on the back 😉)
The point I want to make is: when you’re working with clients there’s going to be special events or other opportunities that you see arise.
And it’s a ripe time to say, “Hey, have you thought about doing a Black Friday campaign?” (or whatever)
If you’ve already got a relationship and you’ve laid some great foundations… it kinda makes it a piece of cake for them to go: “Yeah, let’s give that a go.”
Because they know what you can do. And they trust your guidance.
So you can have some extra holiday spending money coming your way.
Or else they can say “no”. And you just get on with how things are. But that’s fine. Keep watch for another time.
So yeah… just an encouragement to be alert to opportunities from doors that are already open.
Alright, I probably better stop slacking off and get back to the last stretch of emails.
Take care and we’ll see you on the other side of Black Friday insanity soon.
