Worth reading?

I’m having one of those days where I’m struggling for the answer to:

What can I possibly write that will be worth my subscribers taking the time to read?

Because that’s a question that’s ultra-important to me.

I’m taking a leaf out of internet marketing great-grandfather Ken McCarthy’s book here. He’s pretty much: don’t send it unless you are sure it’s worth someone stopping their busy day to read.

I translate that into Chris-ese as:

Chris, if you’ve written a steaming pile of crap, don’t expect anyone else to enjoy shovelling it!

So, there’s gotta be something in my emails that’ll make them worth reading.

It doesn’t have to be all deep insight, and earth-shattering freelancing tips. But it’s gotta at least bring a smile or some small value.

And therein is some of the challenge of writing “live” to my list, rather than stacking up weeks worth of prewritten emails that drip out daily.

But:

The cool thing with running a list like this is that I can be responsive.

And respond to things that are going on in your world as a freelancer.

If you’ve got a question about freelancing I’m all ears. And if you have a question, chances are others have similar ones.

Just email me back. Make it as specific as you can.

Well…

After starting off writing about not knowing quite what to write for this email…

I think I’ve managed to say something that’s worth reading 😎.
