Steven Covey’s self-help smash hit, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, gifted us such concepts as “sharpening the saw” and having an “abundance mindset.”
But NOWHERE did it promise if you do these things you will DEFINITELY earn mountains of cash.
Instead, it offered us patterns to follow. That had been distilled from observation of other people who had achieved success.
What always matters for the actual outcome is:
CONTEXT
Every person is different. The situations they face are different. The people they interact with are different.
It’s IMPOSSIBLE to feed the same inputs into a business and ALWAYS get predictable outputs.
Although, you CAN tip the balance in your favor.
The 7 Habits book offers ways to do that.
Email marketing is no different.
Because, once again, what matters is:
CONTEXT
YOUR email list is different to someone else’s.
There may be similarities with your audience, the needs you help them with, and the kind of products you sell.
But there’s always one critical point of difference:
YOU!
There’s what YOU care about. Which feeds into what YOU write. And what YOU sell.
Then there’s who is on your list. And what they care about.
Every list is different, so how you serve your subscribers and achieve the best sales results, can’t be distilled down to a simple formula.
That means you can’t blindly take what someone else is doing with their list, their business, their life… apply it to yours… and expect the same outcomes.
There’s a reason people put those little disclaimer notices on their courses and memberships. About results not being typical.
Because there’s no way that ANY promises can really be made about this stuff.
But, like Steven Covey who noticed patterns…
There’s also patterns with email marketing that can help tip the balance in your favor.
