There’s no what?

We arrived at the motel we’re staying at while out of town. And began settling in.

Then one of my girls pipes up…

“I found an ironing board. But where’s the iron? I’ve gotta iron my clothes before tomorrow!”

Sure enough…

One ironing board. Zero irons.

Immediately, Vicki pokes her head around the bathroom door.

“Uhh… has anyone seen a towel?”

Fortunately, she asked before stepping into the shower.

We searched high and low. No towels.

But the mystery deepened, because…

Within an hour of descending upon our home-away-from-home…

We had discovered another 4 or 5 things strangely absent.

And guess what ONE thing threw us off more than all the others?

There was no plug for the kitchen sink!

Why??? 🤷‍♂️

They even have signs up saying “Please wash your own dishes.”

Rather difficult without a sink full of suds.

In the end… we did what we could.

And housekeeping did find us some towels.

I managed to wash the dishes with a minimal trickle of water. But it did come at the sad cost of excess dishwashing liquid.

We’re not bitter…

Coz it makes for fun trip stories (and email fodder!)

But it’s left us baffled about how the star rating service works.

We knew it was a 3-star place. So it wouldn’t be the flashest accommodation.

Or have gold-plated taps and whatnot.

Just as well we didn’t pick 2-star.

We would’ve had to bring our own lightbulbs!

But hey!… unexpected things like this are kinda par for the course when running your own business.

Mainly because there’s so many things we CAN’T control.

It’s why keeping a record of your wins can be so helpful and encouraging.

Especially when you’re feeling the setbacks are winning out against progress.

Using a journal or diary. Or keeping testimonials close at hand. Or writing wins on a whiteboard.

Anything that allows you to be reminded of these can be a real pick-me-up. And help to keep perspective.

So when things aren’t feeling the best, you can take a glance and see…

“Yes… I AM succeeding. I AM heading in the right direction!”

So I’m really excited about having one of those moments right now.

And celebrating making another step or two forward.

Because there’s a new service I’m in the process of launching in my business.

One I would’ve appreciated tapping into when I was starting out.

And might be just the thing you need if you’re wanting to build confidence with email writing.

I can’t give the details just yet (yeah… tease, aren’t I?).

Just… there’s some finishing touches I’m working on.

But should be able to fill you in by the weekend. 😄

Until then…
