Record-breaking subject line?

The email I sent just and hour and half ago, had my open-rate-ometer pinging into the red-zone.

Subject: “While using the bathroom, really?”

Are you REALLY wanting more low-brow stuff? That wanders through the doors of places normally hidden from peeping eyes?

Well… maybe it’s not you rabidly opening.

And I won’t name and shame who did open.

But I know who you are! 😜 … or at least that your phone opened it on your behalf — blame Apple iOS for that!

Maybe I should start borrowing subject lines from master emailers, like Ben Settle, whose “I think about you in the shower” line got him into hot water…

But also got a lot of attention and sales.

This all goes to show how important subject lines are for standing out. And getting our subscribers’ attention.

Curiosity is one of the main factors. And that “bathroom” subject I sent was just dripping with it.

But there’s also a couple of other things you can throw into your subjects lines to ramp up the “must-open” factor even more.
