I dunno, but it feels like us humans like overcomplicating things. Me included.
I mean… I’m the master.
Me being the guy who built-out his own helpdesk system… when I could have dealt with things via simple emails.
Hey… I’m planning for the future. I want it to be a great customer experience. I know how to do it, so why not?
All the “good” reasons were there.
As you can see… I’m SLOOOWLY learning what’s important, and what’s not, at certain stages of business.
And my AWESOME helpdesk setup… isn’t really one that I should have focused on. Although I could justify it to the extreme by saying “I’m a tech guy and know how to do it fast”.
And it did only take me a few hours. But it’s a few hours here. And a few hours there. And before I know it I’ve got no energy left.
And ZERO revenue to show for it.
Hmmm… maybe learnt my lesson?
Because it’s all too easy to tell ourselves that complex = good. Or complex = worthwhile. Or complex = how I get my first lambo. 🤮
But complex is what the “gurus” like to wave in front of our faces so we feel bad. Feel some pain. And buy their $997 course to supposedly “fix” our problem.
Gee… I’m not cynical AT ALL!!
So I’m not here to sell you on my $997 course. (Even if I DID have one.)
But just to say… simple is good.
And simple at the right stage of your business, is probably something you’ll enjoy a whole lot more, and see more income from, than from complex stuff.
Simple, and low-friction, also helps keep the joy in the repetitive things. Because the everyday things can move along at a good pace.
It feels good to tick things off quickly.
I know I love it after I spend just a few seconds loading my email. Doing a quick visual check. Choosing my favorite saved sending time. Then clicking “Schedule”.
