I didn’t think it would be quite so hard…

I’ve just about finished a two-days-in-oneser.

No joke. Because I was up about 4:30am. And it’s now after 8pm. And I’ve still got things to do after I send this.

Because…

I’m determined to hit my goal of releasing my first ebook this quarter!

Which in my neck of the woods ends tomorrow!

The first part of today was doing a last pass through my book. Before handing over to a trusted friend for some editing love.

There’s now an air of trepidation at La casa de Milham

Will it get a thumbs up?

Or will I be shown up for the fraud my imposter-syndrome-addled brain insists I am?

But I didn’t get much time to even wallow in thoughts like that…

Before the next part of my day forced reality to hit… of what it truly meant to “write” an ebook.

It isn’t just writing!

Oh… no no no…

That writing has to be made available to readers. And they might need a hand to get it onto their devices. And then there’s the extras that go along. Such as the audiobook. And the video example that continues what the book started.

Oh… and if you want to sell something like this. There’s the sales and order pages. And hooking all the machinery up behind the scenes so people actually get their purchase sent to them.

Fortunately…

I’d already set up the foundation for much of this over the past weeks and months. With the platforms I was getting in place.

And have already done some trial automations with my email system.

Also I’d figured out many of the answers to the “How do I get a book written in Markdown, into an EPUB or PDF file?”-type questions.

So the extra one-and-a-half days of work today was writing and filming supporting material. And connecting some of these dots.

“Some”…

Because I’ve still got to get much of the website and ordering wiring going. And I can’t see myself staying awake to make it to 3-days-work-in-one today! 🥱

Now, I’m a geek from way back. And I’m finding this stuff hard. Slow going. And frustrating at times.

I can now see why people pay many thousands of dollars to outsource their “funnel building”.

I’m not outsourcing, because I know I can do it. I want to know how the pieces fit together. And I want to do it at least once.

Plus: once it’s built. It’s a matter of following the pattern for next time.

So… should be much easier.

If you’re contemplating following a similar path…

Some thoughts:

  • Don’t leave it until the last minute. (Or: don’t follow my procrastinatory example)

  • Keep everything as simple as you can

  • Get some help if you need it (Or: be kind to yourself, if you’re totally DIYing it)

After all of this “just writing my ebook” fun I’ve been having…

Today is offically the last day you can get on the early-access list for my new ebook:

The Lazybones Method of Easy Content Creation

Tomorrow I’ll be releasing it, ONLY for people on this early-access list. And at a massively discounted price.

Then in a few days it’ll be available for everyone. At the regular price.

And all things going well tomorrow…

You might just get to see something resembling a short sales page. So you can at least have some idea of what you’re getting into before you order!! 😉

Get on the early access list here. Last chance!
