The power of staying in touch

Just today I had a client contact me who I worked for back in November ’22.

He’d just decided to attend a conference and now needed a brochure. And a web page to go with it.

They needed it fast because the thing they wanted to advertise only just fell into place.

Writing website copy and designing brochures are not the kinds of things I typically do nowadays.

But I’d previously worked with this company on some website copy. So knew their business pretty well.

It was pretty much a “no brainer” to say “yes” to this surprise bit of straightforward extra work.

And it’s a bit of fun too. I like playing around doing design stuff in Canva. It’s strangely therapeutic (odd, I know!).

I want to share this little thought about this with you…

During last year or so I sent a couple of “how’s it going” messages to him… just to keep the flicker of a relationship alive.

And regardless of whether that’s what helped me on this occasion….

Keeping the door open with past clients — even a little — can have unexpected surprises

Another one of those is that I discovered he’s STILL not got his email marketing sorted out. And we’re talking an ecommerce company here!

So I’ll be having a wee chat with him about that after this project 😄

And much easier to talk with someone I know already… about a potentally massive email marketing fit-out… than to hustle for new work.

See you soon!

P.S. I’m now available for paid consultations

That means this old dog may have learned another trick apart from daily emails! 🐶

So, as a freelancer…

If you ever want some help with:

  • Accountability
  • Business skills for freelancing
  • Strategy
  • Mindset
  • Working with clients

We can go deeper and give it more attention than is possible with a quick emailed-in question. (That you’re still welcome to send in and I’ll answer on the list.)

This offer is exclusively for email subscribers of one month or more.

And it’s a ludicrously low price. My way of saying “thanks for being here”.

I even put the price and duration in the name…

I call it my “50-50 consult”.

But spaces are limited to 5 a week. Because client work marches on!

So… if you want some extra help…

Simply reply and ask.

Tell me what you’re looking for… give a little background… and we’ll see what we can do 😄
