Writing at the speed of thought

Today I wanted to share with you how to start and finish an email in half an hour.

First step is put on the egg timer. I’ve just set mine for 30 minutes.

And I’m already speaking into the transcription software that’s on my mobile phone.

I can sit here and very quickly just speak mind (yeah… scary thought that!)

Sure people walk by my office thinking I’m completely mad as I yabber away to myself.

But that’s OK… I’m getting my email written — faaast!

Now, it obviously helps to have a topic to start with. And my topic today is how you can write an email in 30 minutes. (Perhaps I mentioned that already? 🤔)

After I finish dictating and the transcription AI does its magic… I’ll save the transcription into Dropbox. Then I can easily access it from my main computer where I’ll do the editing.

Normally I start writing in Visual Studio Code. But today is backwards day.

So this time I’m just going to paste all the transcribed text straight into BerserkerMail. And I’ll edit the email directly in there.

I’ll go through a couple of edit passes… to make sure it makes sense, is coherent, and easy to understand… then will send it off.

So that’s a simple process for for how you can quickly get some writing done.

In this case it’s an email. But it could just as easily be any sort of writing you want to get done in a hurry.

My fingers are usually a huge bottleneck when I write. And sometimes I just can’t keep up with the ideas I want to get down.

But…

With transcription I can write at the speed of thought.

The software I’m using on my Android phone is called Transkriptor. This isn’t a plug for it. As I’m only just trying it out.

I’ve already given Rev.com a go but wanted to try this as well. And probably Otter.ai next. Then I’ll decide what best suits me.

So… there you go.

I’m finishing my first edit pass with 10 minutes to go. Yay! Might mean this email won’t be quite as sucky as the last time I tried this stunt.

And if speed’s important to you when it comes to setting up and sending a lot of emails… like it is for me… try a BerserkerMail 14-day free trial here (no credit card required) [affiliate link].

Hope that was helpful today. We’ll catch up with you next time. All the best!

P.S. Yes… when the time hit zero I sent this email 😁
