The other day I woke to a Google Alert that I wasn’t expecting.
Oh no! They haven’t!
I’ve heard of cancel culture… but this is getting ridiculous.
As the conflicting thoughts poured in about what this meant…
Is this some sort of veiled threat? Am I a marked man… and by Google no less?
I read a little closer.
But why on earth is Google emailing me?
Turns out…
Google Alerts did its job.
Ah… OK… so maybe I’ve not got crosshairs aimed at my back.
But I’m pretty sure I don’t know Joyce. After all… I’ve never set foot in West Branch, Michigan.
Who knew?
But… I guess it’s pretty cool there’s someone else out there who’s my namesake.
Now…
Should I tell you why I set up a Google Alert for my own name?
I’m not sure what telling you will do for my street cred.
But OK… if you insist…
I set up a Google Alert for my name maybe a year ago to stalk myself online!
That’s in the sense of:
If there’s ever anything published about me online it would be kinda nice to know about it.
Maybe there’s an opportunity to engage with someone. Maybe a prospective client or something.
So I’ll just have to be content with putting the good word out for myself on my website.
(The ego is strong with this one.)
Just as well it’s a piece of cake to write about myself online whenever I like. And use Systeme to quickly update my website. (⬅️ that’s a big fat juicy affiliate link right there.)
If you like stalking yourself… and have only pure-hearted intentions… then Google Alerts is a very handy tool.
Find it by… Googling.
Bye for now,
