Today I was struck…
THWACK!!
Obviousness was busy playing its game of “chicken” with me again.
And… once again I was too slow.
No, it wasn’t some deep insight into working with clients.
Or how to better live the freelancing dream.
Or about coming up with… errr… interesting intros to emails.
Today I was stuck with something that I wasn’t expecting. Probably because I barely stop to breathe sometimes.
Now, I’m not a huge LinkedIn poster. I’ve only put a handful of articles up in the last couple of months.
But this time I wrote a short post about sending my 100th daily email.
It was a milestone for me.
You see… the journey had begun after winning a momentous battle against negative self-talk. And my first daily email was released into the wild on the 21st August.
When I read the comments…
It hit me square on… how much the thoughtful, encouraging words mattered to me.
Maybe it’s because “Words of Affirmation” are my #2 “Love Language”. 🤔
Whatever the reason… encouraging words are particlarly… (oh dear)… (here it comes)… encouraging!
Gotta love “trademark Chris” circular reasoning. But I guess you can’t argue with that! 😜
Anyway…
Thank you!
And thank you… because two years ago I never expected to be part of this new and wonderful world of LinkedIn.
Or to have met so many interesting, giving, and encouraging people.
And from distant countries too. Yet the conversations haven’t felt distant.
Occasionally we’ve even had some fun helping each other out.
For many of us our work as freelancers can be quite solitary and isolating.
So we’ve found these connections and interactions SO important.
I’m thankful for meeting like-minded (and not-so-like-minded) people… but who are all on a similar freelancing journey.
And how even a little encouragement can go such a looong way.
I’d love for you to always have glimmers of encouragement in this weird and wonderful freelancing life.
I certainly appreciate them.
And hope I can offer them too.
Perhaps even the next time this email flutters into your inbox.
