AI can’t quite grasp…

There’s a lot of fear out there about AI and what it will mean for creatives like writers and artists.

I’ve used AI a couple of times for my daily emails. Just jokes and whatnot.

But never for the “me” bit.

Maybe I’ll use it more. Not really sure.

But WILL use it today… because it’s kinda the topic.

Can you imagine AI writing like you? Maybe you’ve tried it already?

I’ve heard it’s possible. And am interested to give it my first whirl.

So I fed ChatGPT one of my emails. One might not be enough. We’ll start with the one this time though.

Gave it the prompt: “Write in the voice from the email I provided. Write 2 paragraphs on why AI is good for research but doesn’t show human empathy.”

It did its duty and gave me 2 paragraphs.

I’ve gone ahead and broken up the stoopidly large paragraphs ChatGPT insists on giving me — even when I give it a follow up prompt: “same again but vary the sentence and paragraph length”.

And I’ve edited the punctuation more to my liking. But won’t change a word.

You know…

AI is like that trusty assistant who can fetch you information at the blink of an eye.

It’s a research powerhouse… capable of sifting through vast amounts of data and trends.

Making it an invaluable tool for content research.

It can churn out recommendations. Identify keywords. And even predict what’s buzzing in the digital world.

It’s like having a supercharged research partner on your team — always ready to assist.

But… and it’s a significant but…

AI can’t quite grasp that elusive element of human empathy.

It doesn’t understand the intricacies of human emotions — those unspoken connections that make our interactions meaningful.

It’s as if AI is trying to navigate through a foreign land without a map.

While it can suggest content based on algorithms and data…

It can’t replicate the genuine warmth and empathy that we humans naturally infuse into our communications.

That’s where our human touch takes the stage.

Reminding us that empathy, connection, and those quirky human moments are at the heart of impactful communication.

How did it do?

“What’s buzzing in the digital world” is not “Chris” at all.

Nor: “replicate the genuine warmth and empathy that we humans naturally infuse into our communications”

And it seems pretty plain, if you ask me.

But it did nail the topic.

Telling us just where AI is severely lacking.

I think I’ll need to experiment with shovelling in more of the yummy word-food it loves so much… before I ask it to have a go at “me” again.

So you’re stuck with the real me in these emails… for now. 🤪

And if you hang around here long enough you’ll get plenty of those fan-didilly-astic “quirky human moments”.

You can bet your hairless albino otter on it.

P.S. If you feed ChatGPT an email or something else you wrote. And ask it to write in that voice. It’ll have a jolly good go at it.
