Just another manic Monday

It’s just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
‘Cause that’s my fun day
My I don’t have to run day
It’s just another manic Monday [1]

It’s 7:27am on a Monday morning.

Been up since 5am “organizing” my day and week.

Looking at my “todo” items for today in Logseq…

And there’s 18!

(A couple I’ve ticked off already… guess I should give a “yippee” to that!).

But for this remaining big list:

They’re all stuff that I really should do today.

Like planning the rest of this month’s emails for a client.

And doing this test that one of the prospects I heard back from on Upwork has asked me to do.

(Oh how I hate doing tests to get jobs. Just hire me already! … can’t you see my awesome samples… and this face… surely you can trust this face?)

So I’m kinda living the song.

And now it’s earwormed in… so will be with me at least for the day.

My wife’s going to be hating me when she gets home from her trip tonight.

Because you know I’ll absent mindedly start humming or singing… and that wriggly little creature will take it’s flying leap from my head to hers.

But… I digress (bet you’re noticing I do that a lot!)…

Sometimes things just get busy.

And sometimes it’s the way it is… you can’t help the tasks piling up.

Although I’ve found a handy way to get to grips with what’s important and what’s not — pity I don’t use it as often as I should..

It’s called: The Eisenhower Matrix.

Developed by President Dwight Eisenhower…

It’s a simple way to help prioritize things that come up.

And deal with them (or not) in an appropriate order.

Maybe it’s something you’ve never come across. In which case, I’d suggest considering it.

Or maybe it’s not new to you. And this could be a helpful reminder.

Either way:

Getting to grips with this handy tool can be a fantastic way to help things become a little less busy for you… and a bit more focused.

Here’s a 2-minute overview video on the Eisenhower Matrix:

And, I tell you what…

I want to pull it out of my toolbox and use it much more intentionally now.

Even build it into my daily processes — not just using it sporadically when I remember that it’s there.

So, I’m planning on using it this week to help with my planning for next week.

And…

I’m looking forward to next Monday!

Same tune perhaps… though… maybe doesn’t quite have the “earworm factor” with the lyrics:

“It’s just another not-quite-as-manic-as-before Monday”. 😜
