I’ve had to pause and take a bit of reflection time this morning.
I’m needing to figure out why I’ve got my current mental roadblock about starting writing articles for my business.
The question is:
Why am I just not feeling confident about getting started?
Well a bit of one-on-one time with a paper and pen has done wonders.
Yes… one of these 📜 and these đź–Š … not often seen in my office!
Just getting my thoughts “out there”.
And I also read a couple of articles.
One article that was particularly helpful — and I think you may find helpful too — was titled:
“The Confidence Myth: 5 Ways to Take Action When You Don’t Feel Confident”
Well:
Don’t we freelancer-types always feel like we’re panting for more confidence?
So I inhaled this… to the last period.
The article was written by Terri Trespicio.
Terri, if you don’t know, is a speaker, writer, and all-around encourager extraordinaire.
A couple of helpful takeaways for me — that spoke clearly to what I needed to figure out today — were:
“Confidence is not a prerequisite or a goal. It’s an outcome, a side effect.”
And… this big one:
“Every day you don’t do something, you are actively preventing yourself from becoming more confident. Any time you successfully avoid taking action or doing a thing, you’re voting against self-confidence.”
Well, there you go: hammer… nail head… perfectly aligned.
So…
I DON’T need to muster confidence to get started writing my articles.
Instead it’ll come as I just do it. Do the work. Take the highs and lows etc.
Cool! … Now to program my brain to remember! đź’»
So…
Here’s Terri Trespicio’s article…
And if you’re also finding there’s roadblocks or confidence issues in your way… this could be a helpful read:
