Celebrate the small wins

Just a quick 🙌 today. Gotta celebrate the small wins right?

After all, they’re steps on the path of success toward the bigger goals.

So today I’m celebrating one week of sending daily emails.

Now I know perspective is everything here.

From your end of things…

You’ve received… perhaps read… and no doubt decided whether to file or flick… 2300 words I’ve emailed your way over the past 7 days.

How you’ve reacted. What you’ve thought. Or done.

Well… that’s going to affect how many 🙌s … if any, come to me.

I want it to be feelings of joy, laughter, and eternal thankfulness at the unimaginably helpful, creative, and freelance business-transforming wonderfulness I’m emailing your way.

But my wants don’t always play out on your side of these emails.

So, I guess you can be 😊, 😡, 🤔 … or whatever you like.

(Do feel free to reply with questions or feedback at any time though!)

And my end…

  • I’ve lived in a 24-hour cycle of anxiety because I decided to actually write these every day while finding my stride. (I may batch things up a bit in the future so perhaps I can have a breather on weekends.)
  • I messed up my automated welcome email. So a bunch of people didn’t get it when they signed up. (I had tested everything a million times, but forgot to test once more after “one little change”).
  • My heart’s already been ripped from my chest by the steely talons of my first unsubscriber.
  • And I’ve been as sick as a dog this past week (no offence meant to canine friends).

BUT…

We’re in small win territory because this is:

7 daily emails more than I’ve written before.

Plus, it’s now 10 days after first announcing my website. And I’m super-happy to have a double-digit subscriber list.

Yeah… sounds pretty small doesn’t it?

Well, as they say, it’s not quantity that matters but…

… actually… quantity does matter…

I mean…

It’s quantity that matters when deciding how many toilet rolls will do for this fortnight. Right?

Also when it comes to how much sauce they slap on my burger this time (bloody cheapskates!)

Or when I’m strolling along, with high speed traffic on the left and a solid brick wall on the right: how many octogenarians are hurtling toward me on their mobility scooters!

Ahem! Well… ahhh…

Let’s just say that numbers aren’t everything. (But they’re jolly nice at times. And I’m sure they’ll creep up. TELL YOUR FRIENDS!! TELL YOUR FRIENDS!!)

So, today I’m smiling at a small win. Looking forward to many, many more.
