“Any tips for a newbie?”

We’re all at different stages of our online business journey.

One of the things I appreciated SO MUCH along the way was the help other people gave me.

Just sharing a nugget or two of wisdom. So I can dodge potholes on the road I’m taking.

Serving others, and helping them along, is why being an online business owner appealed to so many of us.

I enjoy offering a hand. And seeing people, who were once in a similar place to me, take confident strides forward.

Warms the cockles of my heart. 😊

These old cockles were aglow when this question came my way a couple of days ago…

It’s about getting started with copywriting. But I’d give the same advice to any online business owner.

The question…

I am enjoying the content in your daily email! Thank you for sharing your expertise. I’m looking forward to learning from you.

If you have any tips for a newbie looking to get full into copywriting, I’m all ears.

I’m guessing you have so many tips it would take you days to write them up. In the meantime I’ll continue to enjoy your emails.

Yep, there’s a fair few tips I could share.

And I did point him in the direction of my blog.

But the most important bit was this part of my reply…

There’s plenty I could say.

But first and foremost… know your “why?”

So I’m talking mindset stuff here. Not just copywriting skills.

If you know clearly why you’re wanting do do this. And also the “who” you want to serve doing it…

It gives SOOO much more clarity. So you can set goals. And actually be motivated to reach them. And you can just brush off any setbacks.

So…

Dial in your purpose, and other mindset stuff, while you’re picking up the skills.

That’s my tip-o-the-day (or two). 😁

In my experience, it really is the mindset stuff that makes all the difference.

Dealing with any “head trash” just straightens out so many kinks in the thread you’re using to weave the tapestry of your business.

It’s why I created the Email Mindset Constructinomicon

To help people with the mindset challenges that so often crop up when building an email list.

But it also applies to building any online business.

The Constructinomicon confronts 36 excuses I made (or others often make) for NOT growing an email list.

In fact, it’s written as a letter to my past self. And boy could I have used this advice when I was getting started!
