It doesn’t matter how often you email your list…
If your emails don’t pass “The Test” then don’t bother clicking “Send.”
The test is simply this…
Ask: “Is this worth my subscribers interrupting their day to read this?”
🤔
If the email DOESN’T pass the test then you’re wasting their time. And potentially losing their interest.
Which might be fine if they’re half-hearted about being there. And are unlikely to become a customer. In which case it’ll be a good thing if they unsubscribe.
But it’ll also tire out the ones who were excited about joining your list. And who — if treated right — could become customers. Even raving fans.
Now, I don’t have a gaggle of subscribers on hand to run things past EVERY TIME I write an email.
That’ll make for HIGH friction… and HIGH stress.
And I’m all about LOW-STRESS email marketing. 😅
So one way I check if I get a passing grade is…
If I read my email and think: “I’d have appreciated reading this a year or two back.”
And it’s usually on track to passing if I can answer “yes” to these questions…
Does it entertain? Does it help them know me a little better? Does it offer some help towards solving their problems?
But if what I’m talking about is so humdrum ordinary. Without giving some extra insight. Or my ultra-biased slant on things…
Then it won’t pass muster.
If it DOESN’T pass the test. It won’t be instant trashcan fodder. Maybe it just needs a little more work.
Bottom line: it’s about sending QUALITY emails.
