The Aztecs had some rather un-PC practices. Human sacrifice being one of them.
And instead of a lick of paint from Home Depot… they’d spruce up their temples with human skulls. 💀
They certainly were creative…
In their own morbid and terrifying ways.
One of their skull-shaped creations was the ominous-sounding death whistle.
Known as the ehecachichtli.
(Go on… try saying that 10 times fast. If you can even get it out once! 😜)
When this small, ceramic instrument was blown it emitted a blood-curdling wail.
The very souls of those within earshot would freeze in horror.
Some have described it as the “screams of the damned!”
Researchers, fascinated with the whistles, have put their finger on why they are so hauntingly effective at terrifying people half to death.
They say it creates a “hybrid” sound.
So there’s a part of it that mimicks noises you find in nature. Like the wind. Or a scream.
But it’s also combined with a sound definitely NOT made by a human being or other natural causes.
It’s something very… artificial.
This mixing of the natural and artificial is where we’re at with AI at present.
And the horrors it creates when we ask it to write emails, should make a chill run down the spine of any email marketer.
Because they’ve got about as much personality as Aztec temple decorations.
And after a while, all the AI stuff just sounds alike.
Here’s where we have such a MAMMOTH opportunity to stand out…
By giving our writing personality!
And knowing why we’re writing particuar words. Rather than outsourcing our thinking to AI. Because “it can write better than me.”
Don’t make me laugh.
Own your voice.
And use AI where it makes sense.
I use it for code. For research. For ideas.
But I’ve passed my brain over every last word in my emails.
That’s how I roll.
And not resting on your AI laurels when it comes to writing emails is going to pay off… when the smoke settles from the coming AI Apocalypse.
For those of us old enough to remember the dotcom bust… you know what I’m talkin’ about.
I yammer on about starting your email list NOW. But there’s a reason I do .
And a damn good reason to get building email marketing skills. ESPECIALLY writing confidently in your OWN voice.
Not with the skin-crawling shrieks emanating from ChatGPT and it’s buddies.
When you’re ready… Email Ace can help.
