World ranked players, Katie Volynets and Erika Andreeva, were slogging it out on the tennis court.
Volynets’ agility was amazing. Taking flying leaps while unleashing raw power. Smashing that poor ball into oblivion.
And Andreeva’s vocalization (I’m not allowed to call them “power grunts,” apparently ๐) was all part of the theatre… while she placed speeding-bullet shots in the out-of-reach back corner.
My daughter and I were practically courtside. So caught every bit of the action.
Along with getting a jolly good neck workout.
Left. Right. Left. Right. Left. Right…
As the ball was torpedoed back and forth over the net.
I’ve never been to a live tennis match like this before.
And I… loved it!
Even the tension of the tie-breaker in the second set was SO MUCH FUN!
And because I think about email, even when watching tennis matches while on holiday…
I couldn’t help but see the parallels between email marketing and a top-level tennis match. ๐
When serves come our way (subscriber replies to our emails)… we can quickly return them.
And also use them to our advantage. By answering questions in emails to our list. So everyone can benefit.
When we practice consistently (sending regular emails). And show up to play even when we feel like having a rest day. We’re playing to win!
And I follow the action from the courtside seat of my Slack app.
Every day it’s merrily pinging away. As new subscriber after new subscriber joins my list.
This happens because of the collaborations I’m part of.
It’s almost set-and-forget.
Where there’s a bit of work to get ready. Then the magic just happens.
