I was reading a Facebook post the other day…
And this new copywriter was so positive about their goal to gain clients. So strongly believing in themselves that they could do it.
This was despite them also sharing their experience… about their family just not “getting it.” And telling this person, to their face, that it was all a waste of time.
They said, this really “hit me where it hurts.”
But also… that it wasn’t the first time they’d had to prove others wrong.
And it wasn’t going to slow them down this time.
Now… in my book… that takes grit.
Especially when those closest to you aren’t believing in you.
It’s so often the way when we set out on business ventures. When we’ve got a big vision of the future. But, sadly, our nearest and dearest don’t.
So I replied and said…
You’ve got a great attitude to this!
Ignoring voices of people who don’t “get it” is a good idea. And that may mean those closest to you.
Plus, one of the most valuable traits for any business owner is… persistence.
Now I feel a book recommendation coming on…
Think and Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill (in the public domain now, so can be found for $0).
It has a poignant chapter on “Persistence.”
And it’s one I found super-helpful when I needed some encouragement.
