There’s a scene in the 1987 movie Teen Wolf Too, where the main charater, Todd Howard (played by Jason Bateman)… is sitting in his lecture. And doing his best to focus on the class.
Meanwhile, the girls behind him giggle as they slide under his seat a small open container… full of tiny, moving specks of… something.
It doesn’t take TOO long to figure out what they’ve done.
Todd wriggles a bit. Then jiggles. And starts hitting his legs. Then he’s on his feet.
And before you know it… he’s out in the hall, DESPERATELY trying to fend off the tiny invaders.
It’s a literal case of “ants in his pants!” 🐜
Turns out there were bigger problems waiting for him outside the classroom.
(I won’t spoil the movie any more… I’m sure you’re dying to watch it if you haven’t already! 😆)
But those little insects sure can make a person dance!
It was starting to feel like that for me… as I got further and further into my email series on “12 Things I Learned From Sending Daily Email for 12 Months.” That I just wrapped up a few days ago.
It was a bit of a celebration of one year of daily email. So thought I’d do something different.
And it was experimental. To see how people responded.
The thing that really made me get ants in my pants — at about 8 or 9 days into the series — was locking myself into a pattern of emails for 12-days in a row.
My “usual” emails are pretty much what I want to write about on the day. (Within some limits, of course)
A lot of the content for my 12-part series I had written over the past few months.
And, you know, over the time of the series I’ve (no joke) collected 64 ideas for new emails to write! … Lots of cool stuff I’m looking forward sharing with you.
So I was itching to get back to my usual style.
Like for today’s email. When I can just write about the thing. But it doesn’t have to follow a specific format. Or stick on a theme for a set period of time.
And…
PHEE-EWW!
What a relief those antsies in my pantsies have scurried off now.
You probably guessed… talking about anything in my pants in a subject line wasn’t going to turn out well!
Hence the subject line for today. (But notice the curiosity-factor was still there 🤔)
