This “email guy” has had more than his fair share of email stuff ups.
Some left my cheeks with a rather scarlet afterglow.
The first was because I made one “small” last minute change.
On that occasion it stopped my welcome email from going out.
The second time?
New subscribers got twice the love. With doubled-up welcome emails.
It was all because there’s another email list I was experimenting with getting going.
But I must have been distracted.
So when I made a copy of the existing welcome automation…
I forgot to change the tag that kicks off the welcome sequence for the new list.
This meant there were two welcome sequences that both started running when someone filled in my usual opt-in form.
It’s not exactly in the category of world-ending mistakes when some people end up with TWO copies of my “welcome” emails.
But moderate stuff-ups like this… only highlight for me that I’m just one dumb decision away from an ENORMOUS stuff up.
And it’s not a bad idea to take some level of care.
So, my friend, today is a public service announcement…
Learn from my mistakes, and…
Quadruple check everything!
Plus, every now and again it pays to test things like your opt-in forms.
It could be once every couple of weeks. Or whatever time-frame suits your level of paranoia.
Because unexpected weirdness happens sometimes.
And I’m betting you’ll NOT want to miss out on people subscribing to your email list… just because of some annoying glitch or human-induced “whoops.”
