On plucking up courage with clients…

A question came along on good ol’ social media…

From someone starting out playing the client game.

“How do I get up the courage to contact a business? What if they want something that I cannot do?”

This, my dear friends, signaled “Sir Chris the Opinionated” to rise from his slumber.

Who, at once, gallantly chimed in to rouse the spirits of a fellow freelancer…

Try treating it as a learning experience.

So just go for it and contact the business.

What’s the worst that could happen, right?

If things progress well… great!

If you happen to bumble and stumble… great!

Both ways you learn things… what works, what doesn’t, what you may need to change.

I know… easier said than done if you’re feeling needy for money or experience.

But the only way you really fail on your path of success is if you don’t take the step forwards.

Sounds trite, perhaps… but I reckon it’s fair to say it’s true.

If they want something you can’t do…

You can always listen to what they need. And say you’ll get back to them.

Buys yourself time to consider if you want to do some quick upskilling. Or get some help from a colleague.

Next step… action! We’re cheering you on!! 😄

Time for action, indeed!

Now… working with clients like this means inevitable Zoom calls.

Plus… the “fun” of trying to find a time to meet that works for both of you.

But it need not be a hair-pulling exercise.

Because… with the cool tech around nowadays… it’s SO easy to make this a painless process…

Simply by getting a booking system that allows clients to pick a time on your calendar that suits them. AND creates Zoom or Meet links for the video call.

I use (and love) SavvyCal for this. Because it just makes it so simple for me to set up booking links… and for my clients to book.

While it also “magically” creates the Zoom links! 😎
