In yesterday’s email I shared my thoughts on starting a weekly email.
Today I’m following on from this, by mentioning another thing that can help with a weekly newsletter.
It’s none other than one of my favorite passtimes… repurposing!
That is, taking something you’ve used in one place and using it somewhere else.
The reason I suggest repurposing wherever you can is…
It can save a lot of time. And means you can squeeze some extra life out of content, that might otherwise be just “one-and-done.”
Plus, there’s the opportunity to make it even better than the original.
Opportunities for doing this happen to me on social media ALL… THE… TIME!
I mean… yesterday’s email started as a comment I left on someone’s Facebook post.
And this email today started as a comment I left on that first comment of mine!
It’s kinda like this…
When making comments, the moment I click send my brain is like…
“Aha! THAT looks like an email to me!”
Sounds crazy. And sure, the guy who’s telling you this may have a sprocket or two out of alignment…
But it kinda sorta works. At least it does for me.
So that original Facebook reply that became yesterday’s email… shaped up so nicely that it’s now ready for my next stage of repurposing. Which is making it into an article for my Substack.
(But that could be many months away still, as I have quite a backlog of articles to put up first.)
So… perhaps keep a look out for stuff you’re writing that you can use in other places.
Like for a weekly newsletter if you have one. Or are thinking of getting one started.
Or you could tuck it away to use for your first book. Or product. š
This way of taking my social media posts and comments… and repurposing them… is something I unpack in my short ebook…
The Lazybones Method of Easy Content Creation
