Yep. It’s possible to run a thriving internet business without social media.
😲
“Chris, you’ve finally blown a gasket! What are you talking about? Everyone knows you can’t do business online without social media!”
Daniel Throssell or Ben Settle would beg to differ.
Both either don’t, or barely touch, social media… yet are some of the biggest names in email marketing. With continually growing email-centered businesses.
Yes… I know it seems quite bizarre seeing social media is always coming up as a central consideration for any marketing strategy.
And it certainly can help. And help a lot.
But it isn’t a must.
Although the alternatives to social media, that I’ve seen so far, tend to be more on the spend-money-to-make money side of things.
Like paying for advertising. Both on and offline. And in a variety of places like on social media itself. Or placing ads in someone else’s email list.
But growing an online business can be done without social media.
Even for low cost. Like through joint ventures to promote one another’s email list. Or joining in with giveaways or summits. And there’s plenty more.
Social media tends to be familiar, though. And it’s not too hard to get going with posting there. Or even forming a group.
But what platform to pick?
Facebook/X/Instagram/TikTok/LinkedIn/Whatever?!?
It might be tempting to go where the most users are. And go straight for the likes of Facebook at the top of the social media pile.
But the key question to ask is… where do your ideal clients hang out?
Best to go where there’s people you can serve. And who want what you’re able to help them with.
The other temptation is feeling like you need to be on every platform.
But focusing on one. Maybe two tops. This will help hone skills. And allow you to just play a better game.
Tell you what…
I love having the the option to build an email list without social media.
Just set up an opt-in form in BerserkerMail. And invite people to it.
Inviting people you meet IRL. Family, friends, local businesses.
Having the link at the bottom of every email you send.
Create free reports to share. Put the link in there.
Just some of a gazillion possibilities for growing an email list without social media.
