I had a MASSIVE carpet-cleaning job these last couple of days.
Smudges, smears, and food muck everywhere. Coffee stains and baby spills aplenty.
The cafe area at our church was LOOONG overdue for some attention.
So I hired a Rug Doctor machine from the hardware store.
The machine itself has an incredibly simple design.
It just blows water, with cleaning solution in it, onto the carpet. While a firm brush underneath rapidly agitates. The vacuum then sucks the filthy liquid up.
It does a stellar carpet-shampooing job.
You’d probably agree if you saw the color of the water I poured down the sink after each run.
Plus, having a machine with a simple design like this means it’s MUCH easier to figure out what’s wrong if something isn’t working quite right.
For example, if I see there’s foam left on the floor while I’m pulling the machine backward…
Then the vacuum nozzle is likely blocked up. And it’s a small matter of poking around with a coat hanger to clear it.
Often the simple way is more effective than the shiny new — but more complex — approach.
It’s like this with the processes and tools in our business.
When they’re simple, then figuring out problems is easier.
And like the Rug Doctor they can be both child’s play to operate… AND produce a fantastic result.
One tool I like to use is the “Rug Doctor of email marketing”… BerserkerMail.
It does its one job well: sending marketing emails. Because it’s not cluttered with a panel of dials and flashing lights.
Just type or paste in the email. Click “Send.”
Or to schedule later, pick the time with a couple of clicks. Then click “Schedule.”
Easy.
BerserkerMail makes email fun. Especially when sending a lot like I do.
