Yesterday was all about enjoying our traditional New Year’s Eve catch up with our bunch of friends.
It’s 21-years since we started doing this. We’ve been through a lot together.
Many of us didn’t have kids back then. Now they’re adults. And leaving home for study, work, and travel.
Friends stick around.
When someone signs up for my email list, they don’t know me from a bar of soap.
I don’t know them either.
But relationships have to start somewhere. And that somewhere is a common interest in email marketing.
This new relationship may very well be the start of something long-lasting…
As a subscriber becomes a customer. Then a long-term customer.
The two of us even becoming so strongly connected, that we’d call each other friends.
The way the world works, of course, is that we won’t click with everyone.
So, after taking a moment to suss each other out, we may decide it’s not a good match.
Fortunately, no one is shackled to an email list.
There’s no Stockholm Syndrome compelling us to stay.
Parting ways is as simple as clicking “unsubscribe.”
No regrets. No hard feelings.
As we head into a fresh, new year, perhaps now’s a good time to ensure we’re only getting emails that are a good fit?
Where you look forward to seeing them show up in your inbox.
Reading them is enjoyable.
And you pick up a thing or two about email marketing.
Maybe even feel a little inspired.
